I've recently been to Milan to see an exhibition dedicated to Steve McCurry called "Steve McCurry 1980-2008: Sud-Est".

I didn't know who he was, nor did I know his photos, with the exception of the (famous) geen-eye girl used as the logo of the gallery itself. I heard a lot of positive comments about it so, in a boring-gray-sunday, I decided to go and see it..

The exhibition consists of a collection of 240 photo of his best shots, grouped by theme: from "others" to "childhood", from "war" to "silence". The last section, that consists of only 3 photos, is dedicated to "beauty" where the famous photo of Sharbat Gula, the green-eyed Pakistani girl, is placed.
But there was another photo from which I couldn't take my eyes off, it was this one: [link] .. it's amazing colors and her deep blue eyes made me stare at it for a loooong time..

In fact, only after a long time I did notice a note about the "beauty" section: there was an introduction, written by Armando Torno, who tried to explain how beauty is perceived and how emotions flow inside us when we stand in front of it. It was like he could read my mind while I was looking at those portraits.. truly amazing!
Unfortunately I didn't find it in English, but only in Italian.. here it goes:

I'd like to suggest to everyone, if you can, to spend an hour of your time to "travel" in McCurry's photos :) And if you're a photographer too, you'll be able to admire (IMHO) a wonderful usage of DoF (deep of field) in portraits photography..

No problem - I hardly expect everyone to sit (practically) glued to their computers like I do =P

Thank you very much :D
